I thought [the course] was very thought provoking and better for seeing things in reality. It was intellectually stimulating and not all based on theory like some of the compulsory courses [at the University of Edinburgh]. And it was great to have up to date current viewpoints from people out in Iceland.
The food was excellent and I thought is was great that they provided for individual dietary requirements.
We were very fortunate that the staff working at the field centre were young, friendly and willing to talk with us about various aspects of Icelandic culture. Much was learned from them and it was good fun.
It was an intellectual challenge but also very accessible because we were there seeing everything for ourselves.
The centre we stayed in, though it was in the middle of nowhere, was fantastic for all our needs as a group. Evening entertainment, outdoor activities, plenty of freedom and fantastic food and rooms.
I enjoyed learning about the local landscape and the afternoon of whale watching. I also loved the place where we stayed.
At first I wasn't keen on the remote location and was wandering how we were going to talk to locals, but it turned out lovely to be in the countryside and around such friendly people.
Location, staying in the valley was amazing as it really was a true experience of Iceland and the Icelandic people.
I really enjoyed the fact that we still had some physical lectures as I think it is important to look at the country holistically.
It was an intense week and then having to work afterwards but it is definitely worth it!
