Pilot Course 2007

In the summer of 2007 a pilot course was held in and around Svartárkot. Almost 30 international scholars, along with a number of Icelandic scholars and local residents, took part in a week-long symposium to discuss and develop the ideas and ideology behind the Svartárkot Project.

A number of lectures were delivered on local history, culture and the environment, as well as more general subjects. An important part of the symposium were numerous field trips and excursions designed to allow participants to develop a deeper understanding of the locus and its potential.

At the end of the week participants completed an evaluation of the Svartárkot Project, with some providing additional input. In general, there was much enthusiasm for the project, and most who took part in the symposium were optimistic about its future.
