Built 1960 by the county and with donations from local farmers Kidagil started out as a boarding school for local children, but with increased transportation ease and a new school erected at the north end of the valley, it became a pre-school in 1980 and functioned as such until 2003.  During the summertime the school was used as a guesthouse and a venue for local gatherings, and still is.  And now it is also the home of the Svartarkot project.  Kidagil is located in the center of the valley and offers an easy commute to Svartarkot to the south and Godafoss to the north.  Because of its past as a school it has a built-in classroom and a large dining room and kitchen making it suitable for lectures and gatherings.  The Svartarkot project has hopes of erecting its own structure in the future but for now Kidagil is more than adequate.  Kidagil offers food and lodgings at a reasonable price as well as other amenities such as high-speed internet connection, sauna, bar and a chance to connect with the local people.
